About

to unburden | to release | to connect
There are moments in life when the world doesn’t end, but changes shape.
Someone leaves the physical realm, and yet the bond remains - not gone, not broken, just held somewhere we can’t quite reach with words alone.
after∙light was created for that space.
It is a breath-led practice that works gently at the threshold between the seen and the unseen - supporting those who are navigating grief, seeking clarity, or sensing that something in their heart is still waiting to be met. Rather than approaching grief as something to move past, after∙light understands it as a passage: a transition, a reorientation, a quiet reweaving of meaning.
Here, breath becomes the bridge.
A way to soften what has tightened.
A way to listen inwardly.
A way to reconnect with what continues.

The Philosophy Behind the Work
after∙light is rooted in three simple truths:
1
Connection doesn’t end with physical death.
What is shared in love, meaning, or significance often lingers in subtle form - in memory, intuition, dreams, sensation, or quiet inner knowing.
The breath makes space to sense those threads again.
2
Grief isn’t an obstacle
- it’s a doorway.
It asks something of us.
It asks us to feel, to soften, to pause, to listen.
When approached gently, grief reveals not only sorrow but insight, contact, and deep understanding.
3
The body is the place where grief waits.
Tightness, numbness, looping thoughts, or emotional heaviness are not personal failures - they’re the body holding what hasn’t yet had room to move. Breathwork supports that movement in a natural, safe and grounded way.
The Heart of the Practice
after∙light isn’t about trying to reach someone who has passed.
It isn’t about forcing catharsis, or chasing signs, or manufacturing connection.
It’s about creating the conditions for whatever is ready to arise -
and trusting that the body, the breath, and the deeper self know the way.
Experiences in this work are often subtle:

a warmth behind the ribs

a quiet sense of presence

a sudden understanding

an unexpected release

a feeling of being less alone
About Matthew
Matthew’s work didn’t arrive through study or strategy - it unfolded through the way people breathed in his presence.
For years, while facilitating breathwork across Europe and Asia, he kept noticing the same thing: whenever someone was carrying unspoken grief, unfinished goodbyes, or a quiet ache around someone who had passed, the breath would guide them somewhere unmistakably tender. Layers would loosen. The body would soften. And every so often, a sense of subtle contact - not imagined, not forced - would rise gently into awareness.
Nothing dramatic.
Nothing performative.
Just truth revealing itself in the quiet.
Matthew has always been sensitive in this way. His life has been shaped by deep spiritual inquiry, long periods of travel, and a natural ability to feel what sits underneath the surface. This sensitivity, which once felt like a burden, has become the ground of his work: a way of holding others with clarity, steadiness, and genuine presence.
His training at the Alchemy School of Healing Arts in Italy refined what was already there - the intuitive capacity to recognise when someone is standing at the threshold of release, or when something unspoken is ready to move. His approach is rooted in somatic awareness, emotional precision, and a reverence for the transition we call death - not as an ending, but as a continuation in another form.
after∙light was born from this truth:
that grief is an initiation,
that connection doesn’t disappear,
and that healing becomes possible when someone feels both held and seen.
This work is not about chasing signs or manufacturing experiences, but about creating a space where the heart can finally breathe, and the threads that remain can soften into meaning.

Who is for

This work supports those who are:
-
carrying grief long after the world has moved on
-
feeling disconnected from themselves or from life
-
sensing a bond that still feels active
-
holding unspoken words or unfinished emotional threads
-
longing for peace, clarity, or reassurance
-
navigating transition, endings, or inner reorientation
It’s for anyone who feels that something inside them is still waiting to be acknowledged.
The Approach

What defines the work?

Gentleness over intensity
Breathwork here is not forceful or overwhelming; it is paced around your system’s readiness.

Presence over performance
The emphasis is not on having an “experience,” but on creating space for the inner world to unfold naturally.

Depth over drama
Insight, release, and connection often arise in quiet ways — and those are often the most meaningful.

Safety over expectation
You are held with care, grounded guidance, and attunement throughout.

Humanity over technique
The modality is built not on protocols, but on understanding, intuition, and real human connection.

What you can expect
What after∙light offers is simple:
A soft place to breathe.
A grounded place to feel.
A quiet place to reconnect.
A supported place to find clarity.
A safe place to let what’s inside finally move.
No pressure.
No performance.
Just breathing, presence, and the possibility of feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected than before.
